Sequestration test
We can perform a simple experiment using fluids of different colours to demonstrate the ability of dressings with Hydrofiber® Technology to lock in fluid by forming a cohesive gel, compared to conventional gauze and alginate dressings.
As each material is exposed to differently dyed fluids, representing exudate, in succession, we can see how the dressing with Hydrofiber® Technology clearly and definitively locks in each fluid in turn, with no bleeding of one fluid into the next. By contrast, the dressings made from traditional materials largely fail to lock in the fluids. We can see fluids mix freely within the dressings, and flow from the dressings again after exposure.
Two clinical studies support the use of dressings with Hydrofiber® Technology to deliver enhanced protection of periwound skin1,2 and effective exudate management.
